Giada de Laurentiis’ Alleged Affair With John Mayer Caused Divorce
Wow. This is definitely shocking!
Just one day after Giada bravely announced that she and her husband, Todd, would be getting a divorce, a new report suggests that her long-rumored fling with John Mayer may have been the straw that broke their relationship’s back.
The Daily News reports that Giada and John were first romantically linked back in 2009 in a random gossip blog’s blind item. A year later, the blog confirmed that their item was about Giada and John. Eek.
The rumor spiraled out of control and was even picked up by Star magazine, which caused Giada to address it in an interview with Red Book magazine.
Giada’s Husband Was ‘Embarrassed’ By Affair Rumors
In 2011, Giada truly opened up about the affair for the first time while gracing the magazine in a sexy red dress.
“The John Mayer incident was completely unexpected. I was shocked. And not so much for me, but for my husband and family,” she explained, reports Us Weekly.
She also shared that Todd was often “embarrassed” by the rumor, and that he was worried about what his family back in Michigan would think.
Giada also explained that, at the time, she had only met John briefly about three years earlier.
“I haven’t had any contact with John Mayer in three years. You know how you’ll briefly get introduced to somebody? Maybe we chatted for five minutes, but I wouldn’t consider that intimate,” she said.
