Anyone remember R&B hit “What’s Luv?”… how about “Always on Time?” Well, Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, more popularly known as Ashanti, made some major contributions to both of those bangers. In case she doesn’t already sound familiar to you, allow us to refresh your memory…
She is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, model, dancer, and actress. Like many other R&B singers, she rose to fame in the 2000s (man, do we miss the 2000s *tear*).
In 2002, she dropped her self-titled debut album, which turned out to be quite successful. It sold over a whopping 505,000 copies throughout the U.S. in its first week of release. In addition, the album won many awards, such as eight Billboard Music Awards, two American Music Awards, and a Grammy Award in 2003.
